As per reports in the English and Spanish media, Spanish outfit Real Betis are readying a move for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
Wilshere’s injury troubles over the course of his career have been widely covered in the press, with a string of lengthy spells on the sidelines having held the technically-gifted star back from a potentially top-class career.
Following a nightmare campaign during which he managed just 3 Premier League appearances for the Gunners in 2015/16, Wilshere was sent out on loan to Bournemouth last season.
He managed a respectable 27 league outings with the Cherries, but a hairline crack in his calfbone in April ruled the marauding midfielder out until August.
Return to form
Despite being heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates over the summer, Wilshere surprisingly remained in North London, with his early-season performances in the Carabao Cup and Europa League having been extremely impressive.
However, with the likes of Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil ahead of him in the pecking order at Arsenal, rumours have continued to persist that the English midfielder could seek a move away from the club in January in search of more regular playing time.
Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate has already made it clear that he will only select Wilshere for his upcoming squads if the 25-year-old is playing week-in, week-out, with the Gunners star thought to be desperate to earn a place on England’s panel for next year’s World Cup.
La Liga bound?
And, as per a growing number of outlets, one Spanish side now look ready to offer Wilshere the regular playing time that he is searching for.
The outfit in question are Real Betis, who actually attempted to bring the Arsenal youth product to the Estadio Benito Villamarín during the summer, only to see their efforts knocked back by the Gunners.
However, the Andalusians are rumoured to be preparing a fresh January offer for Wilshere, with the hopes of coaxing him away from the Emirates for a nominal fee ahead of his contract expiring at the end of the season.
Arsenal, however, are said to be attempting to tie Wilshere down to a new deal, in anticipation of Mesut Ozil’s extremely likely exit from the club.
