Kieran Trippier signs a new Spurs deal, fans complain

Kieran Trippier & Tottenham

Tottenham have officially announced on Tuesday that 26-year-old Kieran Trippier has agreed a new five year deal with the club.

The deal, set to keep the technically-gifted full-back in the English capital until 2022, will see the Manchester City youth product double his current wages to £65,000-per-week.

Breakout campaign

Trippier, who has been at White Hart Lane since 2015 when he joined from Burnley, made 12 Premier League appearances under Mauricio Pochettino last season.

But a blistering run of form towards the end of the campaign saw the English international often rotate with Kyle Walker in the right-back slot.

Trippier played in some big Spurs matches towards the end of the season, including the last north London derby against Arsenal at White Hart Lane.

Walker, meanwhile, has left Spurs this summer for Man City in a world record deal for a defender.

Spurs fans complain

The Tottenham faithful are happy that Trippier has been rewarded with a new deal.

But at the same time, some of the locals are getting increasingly restless with their club.

Tottenham are the only team in the Premier League yet to make a signing in the summer transfer window.

Should fans be worried? Probably not. Spurs proved last season that they already have an incredible squad, while Daniel Levy is known for his wily tactics in the transfer market.

And yet, some Spurs fans reacted to the Trippier news like this…
