Khaldoon Al Mubarak ‘unhappy’ after Liverpool’s success & Pep Guardiola names 2 targets who joined Man United

Khaldoon Al Mubarak ‘unhappy’ after Liverpool’s success

If ever there was a week for Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak to celebrate, this would be it.

On Monday, Man City beat UEFA at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), as the Sky Blues overturned a 2-year ban from playing European football.

As a result, City will now compete in the 2020-21 Champions League.

Yet, according to Pep Guardiola, Khaldoon Al Mubarak isn’t very happy right now.

Why? Because the Man City chairman is upset with just how easily Liverpool won the Premier League title this season.

On Tuesday, Guardiola told the press:

Of course I’m going to defend my club, and I’m critical of my club.

Internally, when I don’t like something I say to my chairman.

My chairman is not happy with me. We finished 21 or 23 points behind Liverpool.

He’s not happy with me, but we discuss internally to try to do better next season, to convince them, but always on the pitch. And the people who say something, go ahead and tell us here face to face.

Following their victory at the CAS, most expect Man City to spend heavily in the summer.

On Tuesday, the Telegraph suggested that the Sky Blues could sign up to 5 new players in the off-season.

However, Guardiola has warned that just because City intend to recruit new players, does not mean they will sign all of their targets.

Guardiola recalled how Manchester United have previously beaten City to two signings. He said:

We have a lot of money but we wanted Alexis Sánchez and we could not afford it, we wanted Harry Maguire and we could not afford it, we could not pay like United paid.

So we have money but the other clubs have money too.
