Kevin-Prince Boateng questions Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Arsenal future during Instagram Q&A

Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang responded in lighthearted fashion when drawn on his contract situation during a recent Q&A on social media.

Arsenal standout

Gabonese hitman Aubameyang made the move to north London from Borussia Dortmund in January of 2018.

And to say that the 30-year-old has since gone on to prove himself a hit would be putting it lightly.

All told, across 96 appearances in the red of Arsenal, Aubameyang has found the net a hugely-impressive 61 times, marking a ratio of just under 2 goals every 3 games.

In fact, his 50th strike for the Gunners, which came back in November versus Wolves, saw ‘Auba’ etch his name into the history books of the capital giants:

Aubameyang’s ever-increasing importance to the Arsenal cause, meanwhile, also saw the pacy attacker rewarded in November.

After former boss Unai Emery announced that Granit Xhaka had been stripped of the club’s captaincy, the Spanish tactician opted to name Aubameyang as his side’s new leader.

‘I know…’

Despite his importance to the Arsenal cause, though, speculation has nevertheless been rife all season that Aubameyang could soon be on the move.

With the Gunners again looking likely to miss out on Champions League football for next season, the African was hotly-tipped for a Barcelona switch this past January, with a fresh Blaugrana swoop in the summer not ruled out.

This comes with Aubameyang having just a year remaining on his current contract at the Emirates.

To this point, there has been little evidence to suggest that the prolific striker is leaning towards putting pen-to-paper on a fresh deal, meaning Arsenal may be forced to sell this summer to ensure that the club secure some form of return on their star man.

And, as outlined above, the uncertainty surrounding his future in north London this weekend saw ‘Auba’ drawn on his contract situation on a very public platform.

During an Instagram Q&A with fans, the Arsenal star was joined by Kevin-Prince Boateng.

It quickly became evident that the former Portsmouth midfielder was keen to give those watching what they wanted, with Boateng having suggested:

‘They’re [fans commenting on the stream] all saying you should sign a new deal with Arsenal.’

Aubameyang made sure to keep his cool with his response, explaining:

‘Ah, yeah. I know.’

Boateng, though, continued to push the issue, asking:

‘How long do you have left?’

Aubameyang subsequently confirmed that he has just a year remaining on his deal at present, before replying with ‘sure, sure’, followed by a wry smile, when directly asked whether he plans to remain at the Emirates beyond 2021.
