‘Kevin De Bruyne shouldn’t have said that’

Man City & Kevin De Bruyne

Everything’s coming up roses for Kevin De Bruyne at Man City this season.

Will the Belgian star be crowned the Premier League’s player of the year?

De Bruyne was again on target last Saturday in the 2-0 away win at Leicester.

KBD has three goals and six assists in the Premier League this term.

For both club and country this season, in 21 games he’s scored four goals and chalked up 13 assists.

Problems with Belgium

While De Bruyne is flying at City, it’s a little bit of a different story on the international scene under coach Roberto Martinez.

During the last break, De Bruyne vented his frustrations after Belgium were held to a 3-3 draw with Mexico.

Seven months before the World Cup, the Man City star said the following:

As long as we don’t have a good tactical system, we will continue to encounter difficulties against countries like Mexico.

Mexico were just tactically better… It’s a pity that we have not yet found a solution.

Of course, we are playing a system that is very defensive, but filled with many attacking players who want the ball. Then you get a bit of a problem, like Friday against Mexico.

It was a match in which we had very little ball possession… We now know that something has to be changed against such teams.

I think the coach has to find a solution so that we can avoid such situations as against Mexico in the future.

‘He shouldn’t have said that’

This week, Belgium international Laurent Ciman has spoken about those Kevin De Bruyne comments on local TV.

Ciman has downplayed KDB’s statements, while also issuing a small rebuke to the Man City playmaker. He said:

I think you should handle such matters internally.

We did not have a good performance against Mexico and there was controversy right away, but if we won 3-0 and Kevin had said it was tactically not good, then that would not have received such a response.

Why did Kevin make that statement? That’s just Kevin, he always says what he thinks, which was the case at the European Championships.

But you must stop thinking that there are problems in the dressing room There is no problem.

We are a group of friends and everything goes well. Everyone has their character, but there are no big egos.

It’s true that Kevin should not have made these statements, because that causes tensions that are not there. The coach (Roberto Martinez) wanted to try some things and got answers to his questions.
