Kevin De Bruyne has expressed his excitement to link up with Erling Haaland at Manchester City

The Premier League champions completed the signing of the forward last month after paying his release clause.

Now, Pep Guardiola's side have a world-class striker in their ranks and have finally replaced Sergio Aguero.

"His move should help us to grow as a team"

Haaland enjoyed yet another prolific season for Borussia Dortmund last term.

The striker netted 22 goals in 24 league matches.

City will now be hoping that he is the final part of the jigsaw as they look to finally end their wait for the European Cup.

De Bruyne believes that the Norwegian international will help them to grow as a team.

He told HLN: "Erling Haaland is a top striker.

"His move should help us to grow as a team.

"Everybody expects a lot.

"They’ve always been looking for a number 9, but I think it’ll be good to have that striker that maybe scores 20-25 goals a season."

Haaland to get De Bruyne more assists?

Meanwhile, on a personal level, De Bruyne believes it is possible that Haaland's arrival will help him to get more assists.

Last season, De Bruyne managed 8 assists, which is his lowest tally since the 2018/19 season.

He added: "Maybe (his arrival might help me too).

"There have been years that I have more assists (than this season).

"But my chance creation and other things have remained consistent.

"Numbers are a part of football but they never tell you the full story."
