Kenedy reveals why he re-signed for Newcastle from Chelsea

Kenedy re-signs for Newcastle

Kenedy spent the second half of the 2017/18 season on loan at Newcastle United.

The Brazilian would become an integral member of Newcastle’s side.

Kenedy would make 19 appearances in all competitions for Newcastle, in which he would score three and assist five.

The 22-year-old was also instrumental in Newcastle earning a very respectable 10th place finish last season.

As a result, Newcastle decided to re-sign Kenedy on a season-long loan for the 2018/19 season.

‘I didn’t play too much at Chelsea, so getting more minutes here can only be good for me career’

On returning to Newcastle, Kenedy stated:

“I was always very keen to come back.

“The first loan spell worked out very well for both Newcastle and myself, so when I heard they were interested in bringing me back this season, I was delighted.

“I didn’t play too much at Chelsea, so getting more minutes here can only be good for me career. I’m extremely grateful to Rafa Benitez for giving me the opportunity to be here for a second season.

“I believe it’s been great for my development as a player. It was a very smooth negotiation [to bring me back] as far as I’m aware.

“As soon as I learned about Newcastle’s interest, I immediately gave the green light to my agent, and he took care of everything – I could just relax and enjoy my summer holiday.

“I think everything happened in the best possible way for everyone in the negotiations. Now I’m here to give my best and help the club achieve some great results this season.

“I’m confident that we’ll able to surprise many people in a positive way.”

Kenedy and Newcastle’s tough start to the season

While Newcastle and Kenedy were flying high last season, this campaign has not started so well.

Newcastle are without a win in eight league games this season.

Kenedy has also not had the best start to the season, although he did score in Newcastle’s 3-2 loss vs Manchester United.

The Magpies take on Brighton this weekend and will be hopeful of finally picking up a win.
