Brighton 0 – Leicester 2
Brighton lost 2-0 at home on Saturday in the Premier League to Leicester.
All the action arrived the final 15 minutes of the game, starting with Glenn Murray’s missed penalty in the 77th minute thanks to a brilliant Kasper Schmeichel save.
Vicente Iborra fired Leicester ahead seven minutes from time, while Jamie Vardy scored the killer second in the final minutes of the match.
Leicester were left with 10 men at the final whistle after Wilfried Ndidi was sent off.
Kasper Schmeichel on his penalty save
After the Brighton game, Leicester keeper Schmeichel spoke to the club’s in-house TV channel.
Of course Schmeichel was asked about his penalty save.
How much preparation did the goalie do before Brighton? Did he know where Murray would aim? What’s his penalty saving secret?
Schmeichel admitted his save was down to Lady Luck:
It was nice to be able to contribute. It was a difficult game. We didn’t play well, by any stretch of the imagination, but we dug in and ground out the result.
I didn’t (prepare), I actually changed my mind! I didn’t have a clue what I was going to do at one point.
You hear commentators say ‘he got sent the wrong way’ and it’s absolute rubbish. You guess a way and you hope for the best. You go with what you feel and you go 100 per cent.
To be honest, with most goalkeepers, it has very little to do with the striker. You have your own instinct, your own feeling and you go with that.
