An update on the wellbeing of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has been forthcoming on Sunday evening.
For those not aware, French international Benzema was forced to limp out of Los Blancos’ La Liga meeting with Elche earlier today.
Whilst Carlo Ancelotti’s men were busy recovering from a shock two-goal deficit to eventually secure a share of the spoils, the club’s star hitman was forced to watch on from the sidelines, after picking up what appeared to be a hamstring problem.

Concern, in turn, quickly spread amongst Real’s fanbase, with the capital giants of course in the midst of a fight for the La Liga title, and prepping to face off against star-studded Paris-Saint Germain in the Champions League knockout rounds next month.
If the latest updates on Benzema’s wellbeing are anything to go by, however, then fans of Los Merengues need not fret.
When drawn on the situation during his post-match press conference this evening, Carlo Ancelotti admitted that his prolific frontman’s injury is indeed a different one to that suffered by ‘Benz’ several weeks ago, before adding that he is ‘hopeful’ a lengthy absence will not be in store.

And multiple sources elsewhere have since confirmed that the Frenchman being hauled off versus Elche came more for precautionary reasons than anything else, with no major issue having been suffered.
Benzema, in turn, should be back in training within the next couple of weeks.
Sevilla’s slip up
Real’s dropped points this evening, whilst of course, not ideal, have in fact not proven as damaging as they otherwise could have.
This comes with Sevilla, trailing Los Blancos by four points at the La Liga summit, having failed to cut the gap even further to Ancelotti’s men on Saturday.
Julen Lopetegui’s men were in fact forced to fight back from a 2-goal deficit of their own, to eventually secure just a share of the spoils in a home meeting with Celta Vigo, owing to strikes from both Papu Gomez and Oliver Torres.
