Will Man United make any signings this January?
Jose Mourinho repeatedly called for Man United to sign a centre-half before the Special One was shepherded out of Old Trafford.
Kalidou Koulibaly & Nikola Milenkovic
Man United fans will no doubt have read stories linking Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly with a possible move to the club.
Koulibaly, the Senegalese international, is under contract in Naples until 2023.
The Times have today posted the following short update on Koulibaly:
United are not expected to sign anyone in January. They are likely to move for a centre-back in the summer, however, with Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli their top target.
Sticking with centre-halves on Man United’s radar, it’s also confirmed that Fiorentina’s Serbian defender Nikola Milenkovic has been a target for the Red Devils.
However, that was when Jose Mourinho was in charge:
It has emerged that Jose Mourinho personally scouted Nikola Milenkovic, the 21-year-old Fiorentina defender, before he was dismissed as manager last month. Mourinho watched the centre back in Serbia’s Nations League win over Montenegro in October.
Other Man United transfer updates
21-year-old Timothy Fosu-Mensah is under contract at Man United until the end of the season.
Back in the summer Fosu-Mensah joined Fulham on loan.
However it’s been reported that TFM is keen to leave Fulham as soon as possible due to a lack of game time.
Other players approaching the end of their current Man United details are Ander Herrera, Ashley Young and Juan Mata.
The Times say that Man United will sit down with that trio “in the next few weeks” to discuss their futures with the club.
It’s believed that all three players want to remain that the Theatre of Dreams.
