Juventus vs Atlético Madrid betting tips: UEFA Champions League last 16 preview & predictions

Juventus vs Atlético prediction: Juventus 2-1 Atlético Madrid

First leg score: Atlético Madrid 2-0 Juventus

One European giant will fall at Allianz Stadium.

Three weeks ago, both Uruguayan centre-backs José María Giménez and Diego Godín struck for Atlético.

So it’s Los Colchoneros who have the advantage after the first leg in Madrid.

Can Juventus turn this around or will Ronaldo’s dreams go up flames in Turin?

Another fascinating game awaits.

Juventus vs Atlético Madrid: Who will win?

Juventus have won 14 of their 17 home games this season and are 8/11 to add to that impressive tally.

However, even that might not be enough.

Atlético are 4/1 to win this leg.

A draw, which would suit the Spanish side very nicely, is 13/5.

Juventus are 10/3 to qualify overall; Atleti are 1/5 to progress.

With Juve having to go for it, there could be space for Atlético to counter and get an away goal.

Over 2.5 goals is 11/10 and both teams to score is evens.

Alvaro Morata Atletico Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo has got 21 goals for Juventus although only one of those has come in the Champions League. The competition’s record goalscorer is 5/2 to score first and evens to get his 23rd career goal against Atlético.

Álvaro Morata has been in good form recently too and would love to help knock out his old team. He’s 13/2 to score first and 14/5 to make it 4 goals in his last 4 games.

Both Ronaldo and Dybala to score is 11/2.

Both Ronaldo and former Atleti man Mario Mandžukić to score is 5/1.

Both Morata and Griezmann to score is 14/1.

Juventus vs Atlético Madrid: Match preview

Juve continue to completely dominate Italian football.

10 days ago they beat second placed Napoli 2-1 so are 16 points clear of anybody else in Serie A.

On Friday night, despite wholesale changes, they swept Udinese aside 4-1 so are unbeaten in their last 31 league games.

An eighth league title on the bounce is all but done but it’s continental success they crave.

They did lose twice in the group stages, to Young Boys away and Manchester United at home, but did ultimately top Group H.

However, the defeat in Madrid could be far more costly.

Massimiliano Allegri were really below par in the first leg 2-0 defeat at the Wanda Metropolitano.

It’s going to be extremely hard so can they pull off a famous comeback?

As for Atlético, will they finally get their hands on this trophy?

In 2018, they lifted the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup so will they make it a hat-trick of continental titles?

In La Liga, despite a 1-0 win over city rivals Leganés on Saturday, they remain 7 points behind league leaders Barcelona.

They only harbour an outside chance of winning the league so can focus on this.

The 2-0 win in the first leg was, without a doubt, the best night the Wanda Metropolitano has witnessed.

However, with the final there, Diego Simeone will be desperately hoping for a home game on June 1, 2019.

Can Europe’s meanest defence finish the job?

With this game very much in mind, Massimiliano Allegri is expected to make 8 changes from Friday night.

Wojciech Szczęsny will keep his place desperately hoping to keep his 16th clean sheet of the season.

At the back, after getting booked in Madrid, Alex Sandro is suspended.

Mattia De Sciglio will switch to the left with João Cancelo coming in at right back.

Miralem Pjanić will come into midfield to play alongside Rodrigo Bentancur and Blaise Matuidi.

Matuidi is the only Juve player one booking away from a suspension.

Sami Khedira is still unavailable after a heart defect was detected the day before the first leg.

Up front, teenager Moise Kean got a brace on Friday but will not keep his place.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandžukić will be the front three.

Mandžukić has scored in two Champions League finals for two different clubs.

Douglas Costa is out with a hamstring injury and Juan Cuadrado is out with a knee injury.

Can this side, somehow, come back from the brink of elimination?

As for Diego Simeone’s side, they head to Turin riddled with injuries and suspensions.

Goalkeeper Jan Oblak will be looking to add to his 112 clean sheets in 197 appearances for Atlético.

He also hasn’t conceded in his last 386 minutes of La Liga football.

The defence in front of him could be significantly weaker than usual.

Diego Godín is out and Filipe Luís is a major doubt.

Stefan Savić will come in to partner José María Giménez at the back but they could have a left-back crisis.

If Felipe doesn’t make it, with Lucas Hernandez also out, Santiago Arias could have to play on the other side.

In midfield, Ghanaian Thomas Partey is suspended after being yellow carded three weeks ago.

Rodri and Koke will anchor midfield with Saúl Ñíguez and Ángel Correa helping out from the flanks.

Up front, Diego Costa is also suspended after being booked just 8 minutes into the first leg.

Álvaro Morata, who has 3 goals in his last 3 games will come in against his old side to partner Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann is one of 4 players walking the tightrope of being just 1 booking away from suspension.

The others are José María Giménez, Filipe Luís and Ángel Correa who would all be a big miss.

They have to get through first and, having conceded just 29 goals in 39 games this season, they’ll fancy their chances.
