Nemanja Matic celebrates Golazo v Spurs

Juventus narrow search for midfielder to 3 options, Chelsea man included

According to a report from CalcioMercato this evening, Serie A giants Juventus have narrowed their list of midfield targets to 3 possible candidates.

Reinforcements

It has been common knowledge for some time now that the Bianconeri are in the market for midfield additions, with the Italians having identified the area as a weak link following their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid last month.

Targets

The Old Lady have been linked with a whole host of names, with the likes of PSG’s Blaise Matuidi and Emre Can of Liverpool two of the leading candidates.

However, as per this evening’s report, neither of this duo are being considered by Juve at present, with the club having instead set their sights on one of Steven N’Zonzi, Nemanja Matic or William Carvalho.

Previous links

Sevilla man N’Zonzi was identified by Max Allegri and co. as the ideal signing at the start of the summer, with a deal having even been reported between Juve and the player last month.

However, the Bianconeri have thus far been unable to reach an agreement with the Andalusians, who are demanding no less than 40 million Euro for the former Stoke City star.

Matic of Chelsea, meanwhile, emerged as a serious target of the Serie A champions last week.

The Italian giants had hoped that the Blues’ signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco would see the club open up to the idea of releasing Matic over the coming weeks.

However, with Juve having proven stubborn negotiators with Chelsea over Alex Sandro, Antonio Conte and co. are not willing to part with the Serbian for any less than 45 million Euro.

New candidate

The last of the names listed by CalcioMercato as a serious contender to join Juve is Sporting CP’s William Carvalho.

Carvalho has been linked with a whole host of top European clubs already this summer, with Premier League side Arsenal said to be leading the race for his signature.

However, the Portuguese international will not come cheap, with Sporting hoping for at least 40 million Euro, should the player demand a move away from his long-time club.
