Jurgen Klopp ‘wants Ousmane Dembele at Liverpool’ – Sport

Speculation stemming from Spain today suggests that Liverpool are expressing a keen interest in the signing of Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele.

Barca struggles

French wide-man Dembele made the move to the Camp Nou in the summer of 2017.

The Blaugrana splashed out a hefty €105 million (plus a potential 40 million in bonuses) to secure Dembele’s signature from Borussia Dortmund, in the wake of Neymar’s record-breaking move to PSG.

However, the attacker has since struggled to replace the output of his predecessor, with a combination of injury problems, competition for places and questions over his attitude having seen Dembele, to this point, fail to repay Barca’s faith.

In the former Rennes man’s defence, the aforementioned fitness issues endured by Dembele during his time in Catalunya have been nothing short of staggering.

After the Frenchman picked up the latest in a series of hamstring injuries last month, Barcelona confirmed that their struggling winger had been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Liverpool switch?

The 22-year-old’s widely-publicised struggles since his arrival in La Liga, meanwhile, have inevitably resulted in speculation that the Blaugrana could simply attempt to cut their losses, by moving Dembele on to the highest bidder.

In the past, the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, PSG and more have all been tipped as potential landing spots for the explosive winger.

As outlined above, however, speculation stemming from Spain over the last 24 hours suggests that this summer could see another of Europe’s giants swoop for Dembele.

The outfit in question are Liverpool.

As per a report from Diario Sport, the Reds are giving genuine consideration to a massive offer for Barca’s sidelined star over the coming months.

Such a proposal would see Liverpool prepared to stump up a fee in the region of €90 million.

Jurgen Klopp is said to be the man behind the intense interest on the part of the Premier League table-toppers, with the German having been blown away by Dembele’s talents during the youngster’s solitary campaign on the books of Borussia Dortmund.

As a result, Klopp reportedly views Dembele as the ideal reinforcement to his side’s paper-thin frontline.
