Daniel Sturridge’s big miss
Klopp rotated Liverpool’s attack in the Champions League.
Roberto Firmino was left out the starting XI, while Daniel Sturridge was given a rare start.
However, in his post match interview, Klopp singled out a miss from Sturridge at 0-0 which may have changed the game.
In the 16th minute Sadio Mane broke down the left hand side.
Mane squared a pass towards Andy Robertson, however the left-back screwed up his effort on target.
Yet the ball found it’s way to Sturridge at the far post, and the Liverpool striker had time and space to shoot.
Sturridge blazed his effort over the bar.
After the match, Klopp said the following:
The first big chance to Daniel was a very big one. Each one like this leads the game in a specific direction.
Klopp was also keen to stress that Liverpool could have no excuses with the atmosphere in the stadium:
It was a good football atmosphere. It wouldn’t have been impossible to perform, to be honest.
It was only loud. The atmosphere singing-wise, noise-wise, was not a problem but the atmosphere after the second goal especially — in the whole club — they could smell it. They were in a very positive mood and we were the other way around.
