Jurgen Klopp provides update on Henderson after Liverpool hammer Leicester

Liverpool go 13 points clear

Boxing Day’s Premier League action drew to a close with Liverpool traveling to Leicester City.

The tie was of paramount importance in the 2019/20 Premier League title race, as 2nd placed Leicester really needed to pick up all three points to ensure they remained in the hunt for top spot.

However, it would be the Merseyside giants who emerged from the King Power with all three points.

The game started off fairly slowly, but Roberto Firmino eventually put Liverpool in the lead with 31 minutes on the clock.

The floodgates then opened in the second 45, as James Milner, Firmino again, and Trent Alexander-Arnold found the back of the net to give Jurgen Klopp’s side a commanding 4-0 victory.

Liverpool are now 13 points clear atop the Premier League, but that total could be reduced to 11 points on Friday evening, should 3rd placed Manchester City see off Wolves.

Klopp on Henderson

While Liverpool did secure all three points at Leicester, the European champions also suffered one blow on Thursday.

Jordan Henderson was forced off the field vs Leicester with a knock, as per Liverpool’s official website.

But Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has since provided a fairly positive update on the midfielder.

Klopp stated that it was a kick on the shin, but Henderson told him he could have carried on:

“Yes. [It was a kick] on the shin.

“It was bleeding but he told me afterwards ‘I could have carried on!’, so obviously it is not so bad this time.” As quoted by Liverpool’s official website.
