Jurgen Klopp provides Alisson update before Burnley

Not quite ready yet

Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, ahead of his side’s clash with Burnley this weekend.

Alisson picked up an injury on the opening day of the Premier League against Norwich, forcing him to be substituted.

Summer signing Adrian has featured for Liverpool since, with Alisson sidelined.

The Spaniard was the hero in Liverpool’s Super Cup penalty shootout win over Chelsea, but went from hero to zero the same week, when he made a shocking error against Southampton.

With Alisson still out with his injury, Adrian is expected to start in goal again when his side faces off against Burnley this weekend.

Now, Jurgen Klopp has given an update on Alisson’s fitness.

“It will still take time”

Speaking ahead of the clash with Burnley, Klopp claimed that Alisson has ‘made steps’, but his recovery will still take time.

“Alisson made steps, but it was a proper injury. It will still take time,” Klopp explained, as quoted by the Mirror.

“The calf muscle is pretty important for jumping.”

Klopp also took the opportunity to praise stand-in goalkeeper Adrian for his performances in recent weeks.

While no one really expected the Spaniard to play a lot this season, he’s stepped up when called upon.

“Thank God we have a fit Adrian, I’m really happy with everything I saw,” Klopp continued.

“The solution we found is really good.”

Despite Adrian’s decent performances, Liverpool fans will be hoping to see Alisson back in goal sooner rather than later.
