Jurgen Klopp is pleased Man City won their UEFA appeal

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp faced the press on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League match against Arsenal.

Klopp was asked for his reaction to Man City’s victory against their UEFA ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Rather than bemoan the outcome, Klopp expressed his happiness at Man City’s result. Klopp said:

I don’t know if I can answer it. It’s a serious subject.

From a personal point of view I’m happy City can play Champions League next year, they don’t have 10-12 games less now in the Premier League – no other team would have had a chance in the league!

What else did Klopp say before Arsenal?

Liverpool will be without the injured Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip against Arsenal.

However, Klopp also confirmed that James Milner is likely to miss out with an ongoing niggle.

Milner could return for Liverpool this weekend against Chelsea.

Tottenham’s Jose Mourinho rants against the Man City decision

Jose Mourinho also faced the press on Tuesday, before Tottenham’s match at Newcastle this midweek.

Unlike Klopp, Mourinho believes it’s a farce that Man City’s European ban has been squashed. Mourinho argued:

It’s a disgraceful decision because if City are not guilty of it then you are not punished with 10 million (pound fine).

If you’re not guilty you shouldn’t have a fine. If they are guilty the decision is also a disgrace and you should be banned from the competition.

I don’t know if Manchester City are guilty or not but either way it’s a disgraceful decision.

Spurs is Spurs and I don’t think Spurs change this mentality and in this aspect it’s more than correct. I’m happy with the way we act here. I think it’s the end of financial fair play.

Spurs team news vs Newcastle

Serge Aurier is a doubt after the tragic killing of his brother in France.

Dele Alli could also miss the Newcastle game with an ongoing problem, while Mourinho confirmed that Tanguy Ndombele has also picked up an injury in training.
