Jurgen Klopp heaps praise on Adam Lallana after Burnley

Liverpool see off Burnley

Liverpool took on relegation-battling Burnley in Sunday’s early game.

The Reds knew nothing but a win would be good enough to keep them in touching distance of league leaders, Man City.

Despite this, it would be Burnley who struck first at Anfield with Ashley Westwood opening the scoring in the 6th minute.

Roberto Firmino would draw Liverpool level in the 19th minute though before Sadio Mane gave them the lead in the 29th minute.

The Brazilian added to his tally 67 minutes into the second half.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson did pull one back for Sean Dyche’s side late in the game but Mane would cancel it out just two minutes later.

Klopp on Lallana

One of Liverpool’s stand out players vs Burnley was Adam Lallana.

Lallana has struggled for form over the last year or so, largely due to his injury woes.

However, vs Burnley, the midfielder looked back to his best.

Speaking about his injury struggles after Burnley, Lallana stated:

“It’s been a difficult 18 months for me but I’m back fit and I want to stay fit consistently. It was a good game and I enjoyed being out there.”

Jurgen Klopp was also quick to praise Lallana in his post-match press conference:

“Adam Lallana was really good. His counter-pressing was good. He played a really good game, he looked okay. Gini was suffering a little bit today.”
