Positive Sturridge news
Liverpool fans are disappointed with the club’s lack of activity in this summer’s transfer market – despite signing Mohamed Salah in a big move from AS Roma. However, they could have a returning player who’s like a new signing.
It’s a tired cliche but a fully-fit Daniel Sturridge would be priceless for the Reds for the coming season.
According to Jurgen Klopp, the England international is in the best condition since he’s been there: “Daniel could be part of full pre-season so far. He is looking good, in the best condition since I’ve been here.”
The 27-year-old has had a few injury-riddled campaigns – it’s three years since he scored 24 goals next to Luis Suarez to propel Liverpool to a surprise title challenge. He’s managed just 26 goals since then.
However, given the number of minutes he’s played, this is a good record. It also features his stunning goal in the 2016 Europa League final that Liverpool lost 3-1 to Sevilla. A fit Sturridge is a deadly prospect.
