Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been left fuming with Gareth Southgate and the England management after the international break.
That is because the German is not happy with Jordan Henderson’s inclusion in the team to face Lithuania.
The side had already sealed their qualification for the 2018 World Cup in Russia but still had one game left to play.
Henderson, the new England captain, was on the pitch for that game and featured in the match that took place on an artificial surface.
Safe to say, Klopp was not happy about his players’ inclusion for a game that was pointless and made that known in today’s press conference.
The Reds also face Manchester United this weekend in a huge game at the top of the table, another reason why Klopp was not happy in the slightest.
“England played a friendly game on an artificial surface – it was a qualification game but they had already qualified – and I was not happy that Hendo was on the pitch, to be honest with all the problems he’s had in the past,” he explained.
“It made no sense. We [club managers] cannot be involved in this. They [international managers] all make their own decisions.”
“Sometimes I really wish we could have had more time to make preparations for such an important game. But it is our job and the same for the other team so let’s go.”
