Jurgen Klopp discusses his post-Liverpool plans/Tsimikas returns to training ahead of Chelsea

Klopp’s Liverpool stint

Jurgen Klopp took the reins at Liverpool back in October of 2015, shortly after parting ways with Borussia Dortmund.

The German inherited a squad that, at the time, wasn’t exactly viewed as being of ‘top-four’ caliber.

However, after several years of investment, Klopp has managed to turn the Reds into one of the most formidable sides in not only England, but all of Europe.

Liverpool missed out on their first-ever Premier League title by a single point last year, though Klopp nevertheless guided his side to a 6th Champions League crown with a victory over Tottenham.

Then, in 2019/20, Klopp and co. finally ended Liverpool’s 30-year wait for domestic glory.

The Merseyside outfit notched a club-record 99 points in the Premier League, the second-highest total in the history of the competition, to secure the English top-flight crown.

The Reds have since kicked off the current season in typically entertaining fashion, with a 4-3 victory over Leeds at Anfield.

Klopp’s plans for life after Liverpool

And though Klopp doesn’t appear to be keen to leave Anfield anytime soon, he has recently been discussing his plans for life after Liverpool

The 53-year-old signed a new deal back in December, which tied him down until 2024.

Now, when drawn on where he sees himself in four years, Klopp has suggested that if he doesn’t sign a new deal on Merseyside, he will take at least a year out before returning to the bench:

“A lot of people ask me this question. I have never heard someone ask Pep Guardiola about that but his contract ends next year.

“I’ve got four years left which feels like an eternity in football. A lot can happen during this time. I would assume that in four years I will think about whether to renew or not.

“If I don’t renew, I’ll go on holiday. When I leave Liverpool, I won’t take a new job the next day. That’s for sure. I will take a one-year break after Liverpool.”

Tsimikas returns to training

In other Liverpool-related news, the club have been handed something of a boost on the personnel front.

Konstantinos Tsimikas is, to this point, Liverpool’s only summer addition. However, the left-back did not feature at all in the Reds’ season opener vs Leeds.

The reason for this appears to have been his positive Covid-19 test earlier in September.

Now, though, ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming meeting with Chelsea, Tsimikas has been pictured in training on Wednesday afternoon:
