Video: Emotional Jurgen Klopp concedes Premier League title following Liverpool’s defeat to Leicester

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admitted that his side’s hopes of retaining the Premier League crown are now officially dead in the water, on the back of their latest defeat.

Foxes roar back

The Reds of course made the trip to the King Power Stadium this afternoon, for a meeting with Leicester City.

Klopp’s men headed into proceedings desperate for a bounce-back performance, after seeing not only their title hopes, but chances of securing a top-4 berth, dealt a serious blow on the back of a pair of consecutive defeats.

And, though Liverpool, from a performance standpoint, did look considerably better on Saturday, when all was said and done, the outcome again proved far from what the champions had hoped for.

After dominating the majority of the clash to that point, Mohamed Salah finally put the visitors in front at the King Power, shortly after the hour-mark.

This, however, was swiftly followed by nothing short of a complete collapse on Liverpool’s part.

After James Maddison levelled things up a little over 10 minutes from time, further strikes from Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes saw the matchup quickly turned on its head, en route to a 3-1 Leicester victory.

‘Can’t believe it’

In turn, Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes have now climbed above Manchester United into 2nd in the Premier League table.

For Liverpool, on the other hand, the situation looks considerably gloomier.

If both Chelsea and West Ham can secure 3-point hauls over the days ahead, Klopp’s men will slip as low as 6th in the English top-flight.

In turn, on the back of the full-time whistle at the King Power, the Liverpool boss was drawn on whether his side’s target for the season has now shifted away from repeating as champions, and towards clinching a top-4 berth.

And, not only did Klopp go on to confirm as much, but the German, who appeared genuinely upset in doing so, went as far as to definitively concede the Premier League title:
