Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool could be without Alisson for six weeks

Liverpool collapse

Sunday saw some truly spectacular matchups play out in the Premier League.

No doubt the most noteworthy of all, though, saw Liverpool handed their first defeat of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

Jurgen Klopp took his side to Birmingham for a meeting with Aston Villa on Sunday evening.

Villa headed into the clash in decent form, and with the Reds having been unable to call on any of Sadio Mane, Alisson or Thiago, Dean Smith’s men likely fancied their chances of at least picking up a point.

Absolutely nobody could have predicted what unfolded at Villa Park, though, with the home side having incredibly managed to come away with a 7-2 victory.

Alisson injury update

Obviously, Liverpool conceding seven represents something of a freak occurrence.

But one would assume that, had the Merseysiders been able to call on first-choice shot-stopper Alisson, then the drubbing they received wouldn’t have been anywhere near as heavy.

Adrian, though the result can’t solely be blamed on him, endured a nightmare evening at Villa Park, lacking any sort of confidence, an issue which appeared to spread over throughout Liverpool’s backline.

As such, the Reds faithful will no doubt be desperate to see Allison back between the posts sooner rather than later – especially given that Liverpool’s first game back after the international break pits them against bitter rivals and current table-toppers, Everton.

However, speaking post-Villa, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that his side may be without the Brazilian for as long as six weeks:

“Alisson has no chance of playing v Everton. Four weeks is possible, six weeks more likely.”
