Jupp Heynckes names who should succeed him at Bayern Munich

The future

Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes has tipped one familiar face to take over the job next season with Jupp’s contract set to run out at the end of the season.

Legendary Bayern boss Heynckes was only brought in as a temporary fix after Carlo Ancelotti’s season ended early with a sacking.

Though, with the club really struggling in the Bundesliga, they turned to a familiar face in Heynckes who has steadied the ship tremendously.

Now, the boss has admitted that he will do the job until the season but has tipped former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel to be his successor.

“I came because Bayern were in a very difficult situation and could not sign up a coach the club was convinced of, so I said: I’ll do it until the end of the season,” said Heynckes, speaking to SportBild.

“This is an agreement that stands.”

“I think that Thomas Tuchel has the quality to train a Bayern.

“He has continuously made his way up the track, in Mainz from the youth teams.

“Borussia Dortmund then played under Tuchel great football, with a good system.

“Tuchel became runner-up, cup winner and played attractive football; I enjoyed watching his BVB. That’s why I appreciate him and consider him a very good coach. “

“As a young coach, you make mistakes,” Heynckes continued, speaking about Tuchel’s troubles with Dortmund hierarchy.

“Of course, someday Thomas will see one thing or others differently. But these are little things.

“What counts is, after all, that since Tuchel left Dortmund, the club have not played such great football anymore.”
