18 year old starts

Jude Bellingham continues to establish himself as genuine star of the future as he makes his debut in the knock out stages of the Champions League tonight as Borussia Dortmund take on Sevilla in Spain this evening.

Bellingham became the youngest ever Englishman to feature in the Champions League group stages when he played against Lazio  in a 3-1 on the 20th October at the tender age of 17 years and 113 days, beating Manchester City’s Phil Foden’s record. Foden was  17 years and 192 days when he played against Shakhtar Donetsk in December 2017.

He will be hoping to that his side are able to qualify for the quarter finals for the first time since 2016-17.

Form needs to improve

Dortmund have only won 3 of their last 8 games in all competitions and lie sixth in the Bundesliga, 16 points behind leaders Bayern Munich. For a team featuring the talents of Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland things have not been good enough so far this season.

They announced on Monday that Borussia Monchengladbach Marco Rose boss will be their new manager for next season. Lucien Favre was sacked in December after reaching the last 16 and Edin Terzic appointed interim boss, but he won’t remain in charge after the summer.

Whilst Dortmund struggle, Sevilla under former Real Madrid and Spain manager Julen Lopetegui are on a superb run of form, winning 9 in a row in all competitions.

It should make for a great match up this evening.
