Juan Mata equals his Chelsea goals record for Man United – in less games

Another Mata goal

Another Man United game, another Juan Mata goal.

The Spanish attacking midfielder has become a lethal finisher for United of late, and his goals have been pivotal.

None more so than tonight, which all but guaranteed United’s path to Wembley for the EFL Cup final.

Mata scored the second in United’s 2-0 win over Hull in the semi-final first leg, and the goal capped another brilliant performance from the Spaniard, who is very much flavour of the month among the fans – and Mourinho.

It’s almost hard to believe, but there was a school of thought at the start of the season that Mourinho would oust Mata…

Same number of goals as at Chelsea – in less games

By scoring tonight, he now has 33 goals for United – the exact same number he scored for Chelsea.

And he’s reached that figure in less games for United.

Considering he was twice voted Chelsea’s Player of the Year, it puts his Man United career in perspective.
