Josh King’s surprising assessment of Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos

Spain 2-Norway 1

Spain and Norway went head-to-head earlier this week in their first Euro 2020 qualifier.

The duo have been drawn in Group F along with Malta, Sweden, Faroe Islands and Romania.

The game got off to a great start for Spain as Rodrigo put them 1-0 up inside 16 minutes.

Joshua King then levelled the game up in the 65th minute from the penalty spot.

Spain would respond shortly afterwards with Sergio Ramos giving Spain a 2-1 lead in the 71st minute, also from the spot.

King on Ramos

After the game Norway and Bournemouth forward Joshua King had some interesting things to say about Ramos.

The Spanish defender is not exactly known for being a nice defender and drew a fair bit of attention to himself for his foul on Mohamed Salah in last year’s Champions League final.

However, according to King, Ramos is one of the nicest centre-backs he has ever faced:

“Ramos has a reputation of being dirty and rough, but I do not remember going up against a centre-back as nice as him. He seemed to me a very good sportsman.”
