Jose Mourinho’s stance on becoming the next Newcastle manager revealed

Jose Mourinho’s stance on becoming the next Newcastle manager revealed

Newcastle part ways with Steve Bruce

On Wednesday morning, the entirely unsurprising news that Newcastle boss Steve Bruce had been let go was forthcoming.

The club said:

#NUFC can confirm that Steve Bruce has left his position as head coach by mutual consent.

The club would like to place on record its gratitude to Steve for his contribution and wishes him well for the future.

Following the club’s successful takeover, Bruce leaves his side in the relegation zone, without a win after 8 games of the season. The Magpies have since confirmed that assistant coach Graeme Jones will be in the dugout “on an interim basis”, which could well include this weekend’s Premier League tie against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Meanwhile, the new Newcastle owners are on the hunt for a new manager, but it will not be Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho reveals his stance on taking the vacant Newcastle job

When asked on Sky Sports about the possibility of taking the job and returning to the Premier League with a fourth club, Mourinho was clear on his stance. The former Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea boss said:

“I’ve decided to stay [At Roma], I’m not leaving. I signed for three years project with Roma and I’m not gonna leave my players”.

Of course, there are question marks as to whether Mourinho would have risked his reputation as a serial winner in a potential relegation scrap this campaign, but he is certainly focused on the Serie A campaign, where Roma sit nine points adrift of leaders Napoli after 8 games.

For Newcastle, the managerial hunt rolls on.
