Jose Mourinho told to raid Chelsea and Tottenham this summer

Transfers

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been told to break the bank this summer if he wants to compete with Manchester City.

Pundit Craig Burley thinks that Mourinho needs to raid his rival sides, and land not only one Premier League star but two this summer – Chelsea’s Willian, who United have long been linked with and who has an excellent relationship with Jose Mourinho – and Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld, who is leaving the club this summer after failing to agree a new contract.

The Express report he said: “Yeah sign those two, absolutely.

“Willian’s pace. He spent a long part of the season coming off the bench and then he got game time and looked great as you’d expect, so direct.

“Alderweireld obviously has been excellent beside Vertonghen until the injuries and the contract talks thwarted that.

“But yeah absolutely the kind of players that I think they will go for.

“Whether or not they’ll get them I don’t know.”

Money

Of course, signing top players – and especially those who play for rival sides in the same league will require money, and Mourinho will need a fair amount of it from the United board.

The Chelsea boss has never been shy when it comes to splashing the cash and adding to his side, and more than once this season has spoken about how a clearout is needed at United, and obviously should that happen, players will also need to come in to replace the ones who have left.
