According to The Times, some areas of the Manchester United dressing room have become unhappy with Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho refuses to drop Matic
The reason The Times are giving for the dressing room being angry at Mourinho is due to his reluctance to drop Nemanja Matic.
Matic has started 35 of United’s last 38 league matches, only missing three games due to injury.
However, while Matic has been a constant starter for United, his recent form has not been great.
For example, it was Nemanja Matic who was supposed to be marking Ilkay Gundogan in Sunday’s Manchester derby.
But the Serbian failed to do so, which allowed Gundogan to score Man City’s third of the game and make sure City came away with all three points.
This has lead to some players and staff at Old Trafford believing Matic is untouchable no matter his form.
Man United go 12 points behind Man City
After Manchester United lost 3-1 to Man City on Sunday, United now find themselves 12 points behind City who are top of the table.
Meaning, United are now the same distance away from Man City as they are away from the relegation zone.
As a result, United’s title hopes are already looking very marginalised despite it only being November.
Man United’s main focus will now surely be on securing a top-four spot.
However, even that seems a difficult task given that they are already seven points behind 4th place Tottenham.
After the international break United will take on Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
Palace are 16th in the league and have not won any of their last five matches, drawing two and losing three.
