Jose Mourinho proves he’s spin master after Liverpool by attacking Klopp

Liverpool 0 – Manchester United 0

It’s easy to argue that Manchester United had the better of Saturday’s game against Liverpool.

That’s after the match ended goalless, while Liverpool had the better chances and goal opportunities in the match.

Emre Can missed the best chance of the game in the second half when he skewed a volley wide of a gaping net.

Romelu Lukaku could have scored for United in their one standout opportunity in the game. While David De Gea rescued United with a world class save with his left boot.

Jose Mourinho v Jurgen Klopp

Just like the mirror result last season, Jose Mourinho came to Anfield with a defensive plan that worked.

Man United, even without Maraoune Fellaini and Paul Pogba, soaked up the Liverpool pressure for most of the match.

The Reds, without the injured Sadio Mane, struggled to break down the Red Devils despite all the possession they enjoyed.

And, as a result, Liverpool dropped two points at home which has left them eighth, and nine points behind Man City.

Mourinho won the tactical battle over Jurgen Klopp, even though many wanted to criticise United for their style of play.

The Special One, however, proved he’s the master of spin attacking Liverpool for their defensive tactics in the game.

Duncan Castles has released quotes from Mourinho after the Anfield match in which the United boss calls out Klopp:

You think we were defensive and they were offensive?

Well, you are at home and you don’t move anything? I don’t know. I was waiting for that – he didn’t. I think he did well.

Honestly, I think he did well. He didn’t let the game break.

Classic Mourinho!

As for Klopp, he gave an interesting response when asked if Liverpool should adopt more negative tactics in the future.
