Jose Mourinho praises Japhet Tanganga for marking Cristiano Ronaldo & Portuguese push Fernandes transfer rumour

Jose Mourinho’s first training session at Tottenham

Tottenham have uploaded a long video of Jose Mourinho’s first training session at the club on various platforms, including Facebook and YouTube.

Many Spurs fans have been looking intently at the video in an effort to see how Mourinho could line up the team this season.

Mourinho’s first Spurs match is on Saturday away at West Ham.

One clip from training has since gone viral, featuring young defender Japhet Tanganga.

Tanganga, 20, is a centre-half at Spurs.

While he’s yet to feature this season, Tanganga played for Tottenham in a handful of pre-season matches.

That included a game against Juventus at the International Champions Cup, while Tanganga also played against Man United.

In Mourinho’s debut session, the Portuguese had a moment with Tanganga.

After a brief chat with the defender, Mourinho appeared to turn to another coach to say:

He marked Cristiano Ronaldo, make him known.

Japhet Tanganga in Spurs contract talks

While some Tottenham fans may be excited with Mourinho’s interaction with Japhet Tanganga – is it a sign that he will focus on youth? – It’s worth noting that Tanganga may not be at the club for much longer.

Tanganga’s contract with Tottenham expires at the end of the season.

Spurs have reportedly offered Tanganga a new deal on improved terms, however the defender rejected that initial proposal.

Bruno Fernandes: Portuguese papers push Spurs transfer rumour

A quick look at the papers in Portugal on Thursday reveal the same transfer rumour.

After Mourinho’s appointment at Spurs, it’s widely reported that Tottenham may try to sign Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Claims that Bruno Fernandes could join Spurs were abundant in the summer, however the deal never materialised.

A 70 million euro price-tag is hung around Fernandes’ head.

However, on the face of it, the Bruno Fernandes-Tottenham stories seem purely speculative.
