Jose Mourinho scouting Sergej Milinkovic-Savic?
The Mirror is reporting that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was in Montenegro on Thursday evening to watch their game vs Serbia.
As per the report from the Mirror, it is being speculated that Mourinho was there to scout Lazio and Serbia midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Manchester United were quite heavily linked with the midfielder over the summer. So, it is possible Mourinho wants to revisit that avenue in January, especially given United’s poor start to the season.
Milinkovic-Savic impresses for Lazio
Milinkovic-Savic moved to Lazio in 2015 from Belgium side Genk for a fee of around £16.2 million.
Since arriving in Italy Milinkovic-Savic has played 131 games for Lazio, scoring 25 and assisting 21 in that time. A solid record for a central midfielder.
Milinkovic-Savic also has the ability to play as a central attacking midfielder. He also has experience in the Europa League where he scored two and assisted three for Lazio in eight games last season.
So, given how bad United have started the season, Mourinho may feel a January move for the Serbian is exactly what his side need.
Man United’s poor start
With the second international break of the season underway, Manchester United currently sit in 8th place in the Premier League.
The Red Devils have had an awful start to the season. This has seen them let in 14 league goals in eight games.
Considering how tight United’s defence was last season, it is clear something is going wrong at United this season.
Man United have also been knocked out of the League Cup by Championship side, Derby County.
