Jose Mourinho names the Man United defender who’s his new John Terry

Phil Jones

Jose Mourinho rates Phil Jones so highly that he thinks the Manchester United defender could well be his new John Terry.

Mourinho had of course enjoyed a huge amount of success with the former Chelsea skipper and won Premier League titles, along with domestic cups.

Now, it sees that he thinks Phil Jones could well be a new version of the England star, who is now at Aston Villa.

There was a huge amount of speculation over Jones’ future, with a vast majority of people writing him off and assuming he’d leave the club after failing to really live up to his potential shown at Blackburn.

However, Mourinho thinks he has a huge amount of skill, determination and leadership qualities, and the Manchester Evening News claim he’s one of the players the Manchester United manager claims cannot be sold at any price.

Another defender shining for United this season is Eric Bailly, who showed last term he has a huge amount of quality and skill, with many arguing Bailly has been United’s best defender this season so far.

Mourinho has always built his best teams on a core group of players, with the defenders being key, and it seems he’s on his way to doing that again at Old Trafford – especially after being left disappointed on a number of occasions last term with the players and how they conceded late goals.

Great start

So far this season, United have scored a huge amount of goals, won all three games and kept three clean sheets, something Mourinho will want to carry on.

Jones and Bailly will be key to that, but new summer signing Victor Lindelof will also have a part to play, despite Mourinho taking him out of the firing line at the start of the season due to his shaky performance in pre-season.
