Jose Mourinho has spoken about Manchester United and their battle with Man City – as the two sides face each other this weekend.
The United boss made it very clear they are miles behind Man City – and that they can’t fight for the title at the minute, and basically called on the club to give him more money and make sure that he is able to close the gap come next season.
Mourinho was asked just what the United fans were thinking, and the Express report he said: “It’s not for me to say that, it’s for you to say that,”
“You see the number of points we have and is easy to go to the history books with the number of points we have and see we would normally be in the fight for the title.
“But we’re not, because City have a very good number of points.
“That makes it very very difficult to fight for the title, which we are not able to do at this moment.
“At the end of the season, you will see the difference in points and how far we are [from City].
“At the end of the season, you will see the difference and then it’s easy.”
United have to make sure they get past their FA Cup semi-final with Tottenham Hotspur – and it seems that they could well face a side with Harry Kane in it, with the player getting fitter by the week after his injury.
Mourinho needs to make sure he sets his team up correctly, and knows that a win in the semi-final and a trip to the final for United fans, possibly against his former side Chelsea to really see Antonio Conte off in style would be just what he wants, and would certainly be a great end to a poor season for United.
