Jose Mourinho hopeful Tottenham’s Harry Winks will be out for ‘weeks and not months’

Tottenham edge past Norwich

Tottenham picked up a much-needed victory on Wednesday the 22nd of January.

Spurs played host to relegation-battling Norwich, as they looked to clinch their first league win in five attempts.

The Lilywhites were also still going in search of a first PL goal since Harry Kane was injured vs Southampton.

Dele Alli would be the man to get said goal 38 minutes into Wednesday’s tie.

Teemu Pukki would then pull one back for the Canaries with 20 minutes remaining.

However, Heung-Min Son would come to Spurs’ rescue, restoring their advantage in the 79th minute.

Spurs are now up to 6th in the table, and despite their poor season, they are still somehow in with a shot of finishing 4th.

The north London outfit were also able to welcome back Hugo Lloris from injury vs Norwich.

Mourinho on Winks

But while some goals, three points and a returning Lloris are all positives, Spurs were handed one issue on Wednesday.

Harry Winks, who has started Spurs’ last three league outings, had to be withdrawn in the 55th minute.

Tottenham have already lost one key midfielder to injury this year, with Moussa Sissoko expected to be out of action until April.

So losing Winks for any amount of time will likely be a big blow for Spurs.

Jose Mourinho would provide an update on the England international after Wednesday’s game.

The Spurs boss stated that he is hopeful Winks will be out for weeks, rather than months:

“It is not a crazy one – hopefully weeks and not months.” As quoted by the Evening Standard.
