Manchester United Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho could be sacked before Juventus match

Similar to the pressure on him prior to the Newcastle match, it seems that Jose Mourinho could still be on his way out of Old Trafford sooner rather than later.

It is believed that a decision on the Portuguese bosses’ future will depend on how his side perform against Chelsea on Saturday.

Should United come away with another poor defeat on the road, it is reported Mourinho could be sacked before next weeks match with Juventus.

Mourinho to be sacked by United?

Speaking earlier in the week, Sky Italia journalist Federico Zancan believes Mourinho’s future at the club hinges on their performance on Saturday.

“The victory against Newcastle has hidden them from the problems, but this Saturday at Stamford Bridge (against Chelsea) is a serious game and then there will be the one in the Champions League against Juventus.

“Exoneration before Juventus would take a very heavy defeat. The relationships are not solid with the company and some other negative result could also lead to the removal of Mourinho even if at this moment it is difficult to think of such fast timings.

“It must be said that United are pretty far behind in the league and has not yet faced any big team in Premier League except Tottenham who won 3-0 at Old Trafford. These close encounters that will define the season and career at Old Trafford by Mourinho are very important. “

United’s slow start to the season

While Mourinho’s side did battle back to take a 3-2 win off of Newcastle before the international break, his position in the Old Trafford dugout is far from secure.

With a title push already appearing off the table, United’s tricky start won’t get any easier on Saturday.

Ahead of Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge, the Red Devils are seven points adrift of the leading pack.

The Reds have now managed to pick up just one win in their last five matches across all competitions.

Making their worst start to a season in 26 years, no team in the top half of the table holds a worse defensive record than United.

To make matters worse for Mourinho, the Reds have just one twice in West London over the past century.

The former Real Madrid boss signed a contract extension with United back in January that runs until 2020.
