Jose Mourinho believes Harry Kane will be available for Tottenham vs West Ham

West Ham vs Tottenham

Tottenham will return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs are set to face off with London rivals West Ham, as they look to build on their midweek European win.

The Lilywhites will head into the weekend’s action having lost four of their last five league games, with their only win over that stretch having come against a poor West Brom side.

As a result, Jose Mourinho’s side currently sit down in 9th in the English top-flight, six points off a Champions League spot.

West Ham, on the other hand, are up in 5th, amid a fine run of form.

Mourinho on Harry Kane

Before facing West Ham, Tottenham were in Europa League action on Thursday night, vs Wolfsberger.

And the north Londoners managed to down the Austrian outfit by 4 goals to 1, without the services of Harry Kane.

The English international has only recently returned from injury, but was not involved at all last night.

As a result, Spurs’ fans were no doubt concerned that Kane had picked up another fitness issue, that may rule him out of proceedings vs West Ham.

However, when pressed on whether his star hitman will be available on Sunday post-Wolfsberger, Mourinho stated:

“I believe so, but an experienced guy that had injuries in the past, he knows his body better than anyone, he knows I want him to play every minute of every game.

“I wanted to come here with the best team and the players. But he made the decision based on his feeling that to play this game could be a risk based on the accumulation of injuries and minutes he has.

“We and the sports science staff agreed. I believe Sunday he will be OK and ready.”
