Well done Jorge Mendes
One of the world’s most powerful men in football, super-agent Jorge Mendes, has produced a brilliant gesture over the weekend.
Mendes is well-known to Manchester United fans. He’s the agent of manager Jose Mourinho, as well as Spanish international goalie David De Gea.
But Mendes has turned his attentions away from football as he’s come to the rescue of a Portuguese family who lost everything in recent fires that swept through the country.
Mendes met the Ferreira family over the weekend from the town of Treixedo.
With three children, the Ferreiras saw their house go up in flames in October.
In a dramatic story, the family were sleeping when the fire hit their house, and there was only enough time for the parents to escape with their kids.
On hearing their story, Mendes agreed to foot the bill for the Ferreiras to get a new house.
According to the Correio da Manha, the local municipality will assist Jorge Mendes to overcome any bureaucratic aspects for the construction of house.
Jorge Mendes gave the following quotes to Correio da Manha:
The degree of destruction was incredible, there are no words to describe it.
From now on I will help the (Ferreiras) life. I only want these three children to get the education they deserve.
Following in Cristiano Ronaldo’s footsteps
Mendes’ biggest client, of course, is Cristiano Ronaldo.
Back in October, the Real Madrid star also leapt to help his fellow countrymen.
Cristiano Ronaldo came to the aid of those injured in the fires that spread across Portugal and parts of north west Spain by paying their medical bills.
The Real Madrid star’s sister Katia Aveiro revealed on her Facebook page that he had helped out 370 people.
