Joe Gomez & Trent Alexander-Arnold: Liverpool injury updates before Fulham

Joe Gomez has an Achilles problem

As confirmed in the Telegraph on Thursday, Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has an Achilles injury.

Gomez was omitted from Liverpool’s starting line-up in the Champions League defeat at Red Star Belgrade.

However Gomez did come on at the break to play forty-five minutes in Serbia.

The Telegraph report the following:

Joe Gomez hopes to be fit to take his place in Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad, despite nursing an Achilles injury.

Gomez will be monitored throughout the week, but has not given up hope of starting against Fulham on Sunday.

Gomez has featured in all but one match for Liverpool in the Premier League this season.

Moreover, Gomez has completed 90 minutes in nine league matches this campaign.

The Telegraph has confirmed that Alexander-Arnold was subbed out of the Champions League match due to an injury concern, although the details are left vague.

Fans are simply told “Alexander-Arnold’s problem was not serious”.
