Double injury blow for Manuel Pellegrini
West Ham and Manuel Pellegrini have been handed a double injury blow ahead of their clash with Arsenal this weekend.
The Hammers are starting to hit form in the second half of the season.
They won five of their seven games in December but lost to Watford and Burnley.
They then were unable to get their first win of 2019 last week as they drew 2-2 with Brighton before beating Birmingham 2-0 in the FA Cup.
Now, they will face a much harder test this weekend.
That is because they will come up against Unai Emery’s Arsenal who are looking to get their mojo back.
Despite impressing immensely early on in the season, the Gunners have struggled somewhat over the past two months.
They were beaten 3-2 by Southampton midway through December before being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by north London rivals Tottenham in the next game.
They also fell to an embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and were held to a disappointing draw with Brighton.
Now, they will face West Ham and have been handed a boost prior to the game following two injuries at the Hammers.
Javier Hernandez and Fabian Balbuena to miss out
Both Javier Hernandez and Fabian Balbuena have suffered injury blows.
The former was unavailable for the game against Watford and Birmingham due to back and hamstring problems and according to Ben Dinnery won’t recover in time.
Meanwhile, Fabian Balbuena has also received a setback following his meniscus injury.

He has been out of the squad for some time now and while he was set to return this weekend, Dinnery suggests he will have to spend longer than expected on the sidelines.
