Jamie Vardy & Claudio Ranieri

Jamie Vardy’s incredible statement on Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester sacking

Who sacked Claudio Ranieri?

In the aftermath of Thursday night’s surprise sacking Claudio Ranieri as Leicester City boss, a lot of blame has been apportioned.

The line coming out of the English media establishment is that Leicester sacked Ranieri at the behest of the Foxes players.

This came after a meeting between the Leicester owners and players ahead of the Sevilla Champions League match last Wednesday.

On Saturday, The Times highlighted four players that were behind the move.

The Times reveal the four players who met with the owners following the midweek Champions League defeat to Sevilla: Jamie Vardy, Kasper Schmeichel, Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton.

Jamie Vardy has not taken kindly to this suggestion and on Saturday night posted on Instagram a lengthy statement.

I must have written and deleted my words to this post a stupid amount of times!

I owed Claudio to find the right and appropriate words! Claudio has and always will have my complete respect!

What we achieved together and as a team was the impossible!

He believed in me when many didn’t and for that I owe him my eternal gratitude.

There is speculation I was involved in his dismissal and this completely untrue, unfounded and is extremely hurtful!

The only thing we are guilty of as a team is underachieving which we all acknowledge both in the dressing room and publicly and will do our best to rectify.

I wish Claudio the very very best in whatever the future holds for him.

Thank You Claudio for everything.
