Bad news for Leicester
Jamie Vardy missed Leicester’s clash with Newcastle due to an injury he sustained in training this week, and is a doubt for the game against Wigan this weekend.
Vardy has been in fine form this campaign.
The Englishman has scored an impressive 17 goals in 19 games so far in the Premier League this season.
That incredible record sees him top the goalscoring charts in England’s top flight, four goals ahead of second place.
At the time of writing, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Danny Ings are the two players that trail him.
That form has contributed massively to Leicester’s form this season, with the Foxes second in the Premier League table, and above Manchester City.
However, they will have to do without their star man when they face off against Wigan this weekend in the FA Cup.
Vardy misses Newcastle clash, doubt for Wigan
As revealed by the Leicester Mercury, Jamie Vardy was ruled out of the Newcastle game with a tight hamstring.
They report: ‘The City striker suffered the problem in training this week and has had a scan on the issue, which, while not serious, could also keep him out of the FA Cup clash with Wigan on Saturday.’
Ayoze Perez and Kelechi Iheanacho featured up front for Leicester in Vardy’s absence.
Leicester also play Aston Villa in the Premier League next Wednesday, and the real concern will turn to that game.
While missing out against Wigan isn’t a big deal, Vardy missing a Premier League clash could be detrimental to Leicester’s chances of winning the game.
