Jamie Carragher’s fears for Liverpool in the Champions League & at Man United

Jamie Carragher on Liverpool

Jamie Carragher was once again working for Scandinavian TV channel Viasport on Tuesday night in the Champions League.

Carragher was at Anfield to watch Liverpool draw 0-0 with Bayern Munich.

Next up for Liverpool is a massive match in the Premier League on Sunday.

Liverpool head to Manchester United knowing a win would lift them three points clear of Man City at the top of the table.

Will Liverpool progress in the Champions League?

During his post-match analysis, Carragher expressed a series of fears for Liverpool ahead of the return leg in Germany.

Bayern Munich will no-doubt be fully aware of Liverpool’s poor away record in the competition of late.

Liverpool have lost their last five matches Champions League.

That includes defeat at Red Star Belgrade, as well as losses against Roma, Real Madrid, Napoli and PSG.

Carragher also expects Bayern Munich to be more attacking at the Allianz Arena.

Yet the former Liverpool centre-half also offered a few reasons why Liverpool should be confident before the second-leg.

Virgil van Dijk will return after suspension, Fabinho could move into midfield, while Liverpool will believe that can score in Munich.

Man United vs Liverpool

When looking ahead to the weekend’s Man United vs Liverpool match, Carragher again expressed fears for his former employers.

Carragher is fully aware of Liverpool’s poor recent record playing at Old Trafford.

Liverpool’s last win at Man United was way back in March 2014. The Reds won 3-0 on that occasion after Steven Gerrard scored two penalties and Luis Suarez also netted.

Looking for reasons to back a Liverpool win at United, Carragher noted that the new attacking verve at Old Trafford may open up space for Liverpool’s attackers to exploit.
