Leicester sack Ranieri
The football world was shocked by the sacking of Claudio Ranieri. This was despite Leicester City only being a point above the relegation zone. They were also recently knocked out of the FA Cup and face a Champions League exit.
But considering the feat that Ranieri achieved last season, he should have been bulletproof. Stories have been circulating this morning about senior players approaching the board to express their frustration. Having relied on a solid starting eleven last season, Ranieri brought his ‘tinkerman’ persona out of retirement this season.
Putting things into perspective
Jamie Carragher doesn’t believe this should matter. He thinks that Leicester were wrong to sack the Italian and should have at least given him the full season. Putting things into perspective, Carragher suggested that Leicester would have been ecstatic to accept a Premier League title followed by an immediate relegation at the start of last season. He also dared to say that relegation from the Premier League wouldn’t be the end of the world.
