James Rodriguez & Richarlison’s Everton futures called into doubt following Ancelotti exit

James Rodriguez & Richarlison’s Everton futures called into doubt following Ancelotti exit

Carlo Ancelotti leaves Everton

The headline news in the footballing world on Tuesday surrounded Everton.

With Zinedine Zidane having left Real Madrid recently, Los Blancos were, of course, in the market for a new manager.

And on Tuesday, they found one in a familiar face.

Carlo Ancelotti had previously been in charge at the Bernabeu between 2013 and 2015, during which time the Italian guided Madrid to a Champions League triumph, a UEFA Super Cup, a Club World Cup victory and a Copa del Rey.

And late on June 1st, the news that Ancelotti had returned to Madrid was confirmed by Everton:

Everton stars contemplating future

The news came somewhat out of the blue and has no doubt caused some issues at Everton as they now scramble to find a new boss.

All of David Moyes, Nuno Santo and Eddie Howe have already been touted as potential options to replace the Italian.

But as well as forcing Everton to look for a new boss, Ancelotti’s departure looks to have caused some uncertainty over some player’s future at Goodison Park.

As per a report from The Athletic on Friday, some big-name players at Everton will now contemplate their own futures at the club in light of Ancelotti leaving.

In terms of the players who could be contemplating their future, The Athletic claim that Richarlison was understood to be one of the players who took the news badly, and fresh soul-searching from the forward and his camp about his future has begun.

Elsewhere, James Rodriguez’s future is also now in doubt:
