James Milner starts and Diogo Jota drops to the bench for Liverpool’s win or out clash with Real Madrid win or bust

Liverpool vs Real Madrid

Jurgen Klopp’s team have it all to do tonight if they are to overcome their 3-1 deficit and advance to the Champions League Semi Finals to face Chelsea.

Real Madrid will be happy that Anfield will be virtually empty tonight, as the famous old ground has been known to make the difference on many glorious European night for Liverpool, but if they are going to produce another comeback for the ages tonight, it will be without their faithful fans.

Liverpool will be hoping to make their third final under Klopp, having lost to Madrid in 2018 and beating Spurs the following year, but they know it won’t be easy.

Klopp said of the challenge facing them, “When you’re 3-1 down, it looks like we’re already out so we have nothing to lose and will try.”

“To beat Real Madrid you have to defend at your highest level and also create. They were better than us and we weren’t as good as we should or could have been.”

“Their first goal was a genius long ball between two defenders but the other two goals we just didn’t defend well enough. We have to bring ourselves in a mood and start believing again. If we can see it’s possible then we have a chance but it’s still incredibly difficult.”

“You don’t get a comeback because you had one in the past. We cannot just take comebacks for granted, especially not without a crowd in the stadium. We have to create our own atmosphere for this game.”
