James Justin stretchered off in Leicester City’s FA Cup victory over Brighton in blow to Brendan Rodgers

Injury mars win

James Justin was stretchered off during the second-half of Leicester City’s FA Cup fifth-round victory over Brighton, with what looks like a serious knee injury.

Kelechi Ihenacho scored the winner on Wednesday, when he was left unmarked at the far post to head home a 90th minute winner. The victory, though, looks set to leave a bittersweet taste for Leicester.

Justin had been enjoying an outstanding breakout campaign for Leicester, after joining from Luton Town for a fee that could rise to £8 million in June of 2019.  The stopper has been earning rave reviews for his performances all season, with Brendan Rodgers having only recently backed Justin for the England squad.

He has also been a darling of Fantasy Premier League players, currently sitting as the second-highest scoring defender, and a fan favourite amongst the Leicester faithful, who took to Twitter to share their sadness after seeing him leave the field on Wednesday:

Justin wasn’t the only player to leave the pitch hurt during the tie, as former Newcastle United star Ayoze Perez also limped off.

Brendan Rodgers has only just welcomed Jamie Vardy back into his side, and with a run of 8 games to come over the next month, the latest batch of injuries could not have come at a worse time. With Leicester fighting on multiple fronts, he will be hoping for some positive news on Justin and Perez over the days ahead.
