Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was this afternoon spotted making the day of one of the Gunners’ faithful, following the full-time whistle of his side’s win over Everton.
The two sides went head to head in a Premier League clash at Goodison Park today, with both coming into proceedings on the back of disappointing showings last weekend.
Everton were held to a draw by newly promoted Brighton, whilst Arsenal fell to a 2-1 defeat at Vicarage Road versus high-flying Watford.
However, the Gunners were on significantly better form overall, with their result at Watford their first loss in 9 across all competitions.
The Toffees, on the other hand, had managed just 2 wins from their 12 fixtures across all competitions this season, despite investing heavily in their squad over the summer.
As a result, it came as a surprise when the home side took the lead this afternoon, courtesy of a wonderful strike from Wayne Rooney.
However, it did not take long for the game to begin following its predicted pattern, as Arsene Wenger’s men took complete control for the remainder of the first-half.
Nacho Monreal eventually provided the Londoners with the equaliser they deserved just before the interval, before a second-half onslaught saw all of Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette, Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez find the net.
Everton, meanwhile, grabbed a slight consolation in injury time through Oumar Niasse (though his strike actually came before that of Alexis Sanchez), but the performance of the Merseysiders once again left a lot to be desired, with Ronald Koeman now looking closer than ever to the exit door at Goodison.
While it was a thoroughly miserable day for supporters of the home side, the travelling Arsenal contingent were treated to some splendid football by Arsene Wenger’s men, with the return of Jack Wilshere to Premier League duty an icing on the cake.
Wilshere once again looked sharp during his time on the pitch, and set up Aaron Ramsey for his side’s 4th, but it was a gesture made by the English midfielder following the game which has been going viral this evening.
As the Arsenal players celebrated with their supporters at the away end, one of the more enthusiastic members of the Gunners’ fanbase made his way onto the pitch in an attempt to join in with his club’s stars.
However, he was halted by the waiting stewards, but did manage to get away with the jersey of Jack Wilshere, who quickly took off his top to hand it to the Gunners fan before he was dragged away.
Check out the brilliant footage below:
