Wilshere going to Bournemouth

It’s not quite official yet but it’s more or less a done deal. Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is going to spend the season on loan at Bournemouth. It’s not the worst place to play your football. Eddie Howe is a talented young manager who lines his team out to play in a positive manner.

It could be the ideal place for Wilshere to rebuild his career.

Italian job? No thanks

Then again, why not Italy? If he ends up staying in the Premier League then it’s likely he turned down both AS Roma and AC Milan. Those are genuine Italian giants. Okay, maybe Milan aren’t what they were. Yet there’s still a massive appeal to playing for a club with that kind of history.

Seriously. They’ve won seven European Cups and 18 Serie A titles. C’mon, Jack.

Isn’t the prospect of helping them back to the top table of European football more appealing than a potential relegation battle with Bournemouth? No offence to the Cherries.

Well, yeah, of course. We suspect that he would have gone to Milan, too, if it wasn’t for those pesky kids. He’s playing his football in England so that he can stay close to his family.
